I am thoroughly impressed by Cassandra Khaw’s latest work, “The Salt Grows Heavy.” Her writing is bombastic and absolutely captivating. Khaw’s use of sensory details, particularly in regards to the human body, is masterful and evokes a sense of heightened awareness in the reader.
As someone who has worked in surgical units, I can attest to the accuracy of Khaw’s descriptions of sight, sound, touch, and smell. Her ability to capture such raw imagery and engage all the senses is a testament to her talent as an artist. It is rare to find an author who can so effectively transport the reader into the visceral world of their characters.
The story itself is a gripping and unexpected journey, with a stunning ending that left me in awe. After reading this, I am eager to explore more of Cassandra Khaw’s published works and have already added them to my reading list.
