Night’s Edge by Liz Kerin

Female Lead, Fiction, Horror, Psychological, Supernatural, Suspense, Women’s Fiction

When selecting horror literature, one anticipates scenes of gore, intense events, and graphic descriptions. However, Liz Kerin’s Night’s Edge elevates the genre by delving into the emotionally charged relationship between a mother and daughter, whose lives are inextricably linked in a dangerous battle for survival. This gripping narrative explores themes of adulthood, and the ramifications of emotionally taxing choices, and prompts the reader to consider the lengths one would go for the sake of family.

Kerin’s thorough and thorough inquiries elicit a visceral reaction, compelling individuals to confront the challenging dilemma between maternal and filial allegiances. Who holds the rightful role of parent? Who relies on whom? The narrative is reminiscent of Rapunzel, set in a world of vampires and horror, where a syndrome plagues some individuals who “live” with this condition, albeit to a ‘limited’ extent.

This is not your typical vampire tale of bloodlust. Liz masterfully evokes a range of emotions, from sorrow to hope, for each character introduced in the narrative. Her words are thoughtfully selected and expertly crafted. This coming-of-age horror presents a poignant reflection of our world, with its constant challenges, unexpected trials, and the weighty implications of our choices.

Our life bodies offer only so much time. How are you going to spend yours?
